TriniTracker July 23rd – Atlantic Challenge II

July 23rd, 2016 – 07:00 local time (= UTC)
Position: 4824N 02102W
SOG: 6.0 kts / Speed: 7.4 kts
Wind: SW 16 kts
Course Over Ground: 020
MAS (Mood at Sea): foggy

(English version below)

Seas the day

Due to the ongoing SW winds we’ve decided to keep our NE course on a broad reach instead of turning to starboard towards the English Channel. Otherwise we would have a pure downwind course and would be slower. Only when we reach about 4930N – right at the latitude of the middle of the Channel – we will make the turn. The waves are coming from diagonally behind and are making sailing quite comfortable.

But, besides the cold and high humidity, there’s dense fog now. Visibility is only about 50 yards, a real pea-soup. The only remedy: keep good lookout, make yourself a nice tea and think about the Caribbean with the mug in your hands!
